6th CSSD Annual Academic Meeting at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata
The 6th Annual Academic Meeting on ‘Cleaning and Disinfection of Surgical Instruments’ was held at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata on 1 st September 2018. This was organized in association with Medivue Technologies Private Limited, Mumbai.
The scientific program was inaugurated by Dr. V R Ramanan, the Hon. Dy. Director of Tata Medical Center who stressed on the importance of proper cleaning, disinfection and sterilization practices in a healthcare facility and also the maintenance of standards and quality practices in institutions. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Sanjay Bhattacharya, Chief Consultant Microbiologist and Head of CSSD and Infection Control, TMC who spoke on "Applied Physics in CSSD Operations".
The principal speaker for this seminar was Mr. Andreas Schuster, International Key Account Manager, Chemische fabrik Dr. Weigert Gmbh & Co. KG, Germany. Mr. Schuster highlighted in his presentation the standard practices of reprocessing surgical instruments around the globe and was titled ‘Discussion on water quality assessment and the requirement of ultimate cleaning solution for better surgical instrument cleaning’
This 6th annual conference was attended in large numbers by personnel related to the CSSD/OT and Hygiene field from various governmental institutes such as ESI, Habra State General Hospital as well as private sector hospitals like AMRI group of hospitals, C K Birla group of hospitals, Apollo & Fortis hospitals. Amongst the special invitees for this seminar were personnel from the Command Hospital, Kolkata and the Dhaka Army Hospital.
A quiz contest was also held on the relevant topics followed by a visit to the CSSD in Tata Medical Center, Kolkata for the attendees to help demonstrate the standards and practices that were maintained in the institution. The CSSD team of Tata Medical Center under the able leadership of Mr. Debobrata Basu The session ended with a vote of thanks and a small presentation ceremony. The said program was highly appreciated by all the participants as well as the guests invited and everybody looked forward for the next Annual seminar.
